Meet Me

Hello there! I’m Amber, and it’s an absolute pleasure to meet you. I’m a life-loving dog-mom who adores travel, reading, and the great outdoors. These passions have enriched my life and work in countless ways.

My journey into the world of play therapy began with a background in education. I proudly hold a Bed. Foundation Phase degree from Stellenbosch University, and I even ventured into the world of education as I opened my own pre-school. Those were wonderful years spent nurturing young minds and sowing the seeds of curiosity and growth.

Yet, life had other plans for me. It led me to the enchanting realm of play therapy, where I found my true calling. With enthusiasm and dedication, I pursued further education, earning a Certificate in therapeutic play through Leeds Beckett University in collaboration with APAC, PTI, PTUK, and PTISA. Currently, I’m eagerly working toward my Diploma in Play Therapy and a Post Qualifying Certificate in Filial Play Coaching, all in close partnership with these esteemed organizations.

But my commitment to growth doesn’t stop at academics. I’ve also pursued additional training, including a developmental trauma course through Beacon House, and I’ve immersed myself in specialized Synergetic Play Therapy courses. These experiences have not only enriched my skill set but have also deepened my connection with the children I have the privilege to work with.

Beyond my professional journey, I am immensely proud to dedicate my time and skills pro-bono at The Imibala Trust, a heartwarming non-profit organization nestled in Somerset West. It’s there that I’ve witnessed firsthand the remarkable transformation that play therapy can bring to the lives of children, reaffirming my passion for this profoundly rewarding work.

What truly fuels my dedication is the privilege of being a part of children’s healing journeys. Their boundless creativity, resilience, and innate wisdom continue to inspire me every day. My mission is to create a safe and nurturing space where children can freely explore, heal, and grow. Together, we embark on a path of discovery, recovery, and empowerment.
